Awais Ahmed is pioneering the convergence of space technology and artificial intelligence through Pixxel’s hyperspectral satellite platform. Over the past year, the company has deployed India’s first private hyperspectral satellite constellation, enabling AI-powered analysis of Earth observation data with unprecedented spectral detail for applications spanning climate, agriculture, energy, and environmental monitoring.

Ahmed has also led Pixxel’s partnership with Sarvam to develop India’s first orbital data centre demonstrator satellite, combining sovereign AI models with space infrastructure to enable foundation model inference directly in orbit. The initiative aims to reduce latency and enable faster, more autonomous decision-making from space-based data.

Ahmed believes India’s AI ecosystem is entering a new phase centered on building foundational capabilities across models, compute, proprietary datasets, and infrastructure. He sees this convergence creating opportunities for India to pioneer entirely new categories of AI-powered intelligence infrastructure for the world.
