AIM 100: India's Most Influential People Shaping AI in 2026
Prof Arindam Ghosh
JRD Tata Chair Professor, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science

Prof Arindam Ghosh is advancing quantum technologies that could significantly enhance the next generation of artificial intelligence systems. In the last 12 months, his research has focused on quantum sensing and hybrid high-performance computing—quantum computing architectures, with the goal of improving computational efficiency and generating higher-quality data for AI and machine learning applications.
His work explores how quantum technologies can complement AI by enabling more efficient algorithms and producing richer datasets that improve the accuracy of AI models and predictions. As one of India’s leading physicists, Ghosh continues to contribute to the country’s long-term deep-tech research capabilities at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
Ghosh believes one of the defining shifts in India’s AI landscape is the rapid mainstream adoption of AI education. The growing number of institutions introducing AI-focused curricula, he says, reflects how deeply AI has begun to reshape the country’s technology ecosystem.
