The global chip shortage crisis has adversely impacted major economies. However, despite the supply constraints precipitated by the pandemic, the semiconductor industry is poised to reach a $522 billion market cap in 2021 at 12.5% year-over-year growth, as per the International Data Corporation (IDC).

Meanwhile, India is highly reliant on imports to meet the country’s semiconductor requirement. Recently, over 20 semiconductor manufacturing and design businesses in the high-end, display, and speciality fabrication segments have submitted expressions of interest (EOIs) to establish production facilities in India.
