The fourth week of December 2016 will see at least two major international workshops in Big Data and Analytics (BDA) in Hyderabad.
The International Workshop on Foundations of Big Data Computing (IEEE BigDF) will be organized in conjunction with the IEEE High Performance Computing conference (HiPC 2016) on Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Hyderabad International Conference Centre (HICC). It will feature two keynote addresses by renowned BDA experts as well as a number of selected presentations from international researchers on cutting edge BDA issues.
The first keynote speaker Prof. Geoffrey Fox, Distinguished Professor, School of Informatics and Computing, Indiana University at Bloomington, USA, will summarize an ongoing and vibrant community discussion on the possible “convergence” of Big Data and High Performance Computing. The second keynote speaker Prof. Vijay V. Raghavan, Alfred and Helen Lamson Endowed Professor in Computer Science, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA, will present a framework for real-time event detection for emergency situations using social media streams.
After the conclusion of HiPC (on December 22), the International Workshop on Clinical Data Analytics (WCDA) will be held on December 23, 2016, at the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH), Hyderabad. WCDA will be organized in association with the International Indian Statistical Association (IISA), the Indian Association for Statistics in Clinical Trials (IASCT) and the Health Analytics Network (HAN). Its prime attraction will be the plenary talks on emerging topics in clinical and biomedical analytics by distinguished international academicians, including some of the Presidents of IISA from the USA, as well as leaders from the industry. New approaches in Bayesian and longitudinal data analysis and genomic medicine will be presented. An interactive panel discussion and tutorials on analytical tools will also be conducted at the workshop.
According to the General Chair of both workshops, Prof. Saumyadipta Pyne, IIPH Hyderabad, “it is a rare treat for those who are analytically inclined to have such a lavish feast of BDA topics all neatly aligned within a week just before the holidays”. Both workshops will be held in association with the Computer Society of India’s Special Interest Group in Big Data Analytics (CSI SIG BDA).
