Accenture has launched Accenture Construct, a new global business that helps project owners plan, deliver, and optimise large infrastructure and capital projects, from airports and power grids to data centres, rail networks, and advanced manufacturing facilities.
According to a study commissioned by Accenture, the total addressable market for integrated owner-side capital project services is $260 billion and is projected to grow 7.5% annually to $348 billion in 2030.
"Global demand for critical infrastructure capital programmes is accelerating at the same time as AI is fundamentally changing how projects are planned, delivered and operated," Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture, said in a statement.
Accenture said its capital projects business has grown four times over three years across strategic advisory, engineering, project delivery, and technology services. The company said the launch strengthens its position to capture growth from three converging demand cycles: the AI infrastructure build-out of data centre construction, the global energy transition, and long-term infrastructure replacement.
The company said fragmented delivery models can leave project owners absorbing the costs between multiple advisors, consultants, contractors, and specialist firms—each responsible for different parts of a project.
Accenture Construct addresses this through a common project data foundation designed to create a single operational view across the delivery ecosystem. The company said its AI-enabled workflows can shift project delivery from reactive management to predictive decision-making.
Accenture said Accenture Construct serves private and public sector clients and is organised around five global lines of business: data centres; utilities and telecommunications; transportation and civic infrastructure; advanced manufacturing; and process industries.
The business brings together more than 5,000 practitioners across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific.
As representative engagements, Accenture cited Vale, the global mining company, where it is helping transform delivery of a large-scale annual industrial capital portfolio through digital engineering, AI, and integrated execution.
"Capital projects haven't lacked expertise; they've lacked alignment on shared success outcomes. Owners assemble exceptional teams, but accountability is often dispersed across the delivery ecosystem," said Adam J Shaw, CEO of Accenture Construct.
Accenture said the new business is designed to provide earlier risk identification and greater certainty over cost, schedule, quality, and asset performance. The company said Accenture Construct will act as a single accountable partner from strategy through handover.
