Cisco and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) have launched the Cisco Technology Hub on AI and Cybersecurity, a collaborative initiative to advance research, build skills and strengthen the AI and cybersecurity ecosystem in the country.
The technology hub aims to boost AI and cybersecurity research, innovation, and talent development in the Indo-Pacific region.
Powered by Cisco's Country Digital Acceleration Programme, this three-year collaboration involves working with government policymakers to strengthen digital frameworks and security standards while co-creating solutions to real-world challenges for a more resilient digital ecosystem.
The hub focuses on three areas: research, talent, and ecosystem engagement.
On research, it will support fundamental and applied work in AI and cybersecurity, backed by grants and fellowships for PhD and MTech students, a chair of excellence, and joint projects with Cisco's global research teams, while also enabling IIT Delhi scholars to publish white papers that inform government policy and regulatory frameworks.
On workforce skills, it aims to continue education programmes developed with Cisco Networking Academy for industry professionals and government, alongside short training courses for government entities and public sector undertakings on emerging technologies and cybersecurity risks.
On thought leadership, it aims to facilitate dialogue across industry, academia and government, including security workshops, research forums and an annual Security and Trust Summit.
"This collaboration builds on the Institute's commitment to enable knowledge exchange and co-creation with industry partners. Through this initiative, we aim to foster innovation, develop future-ready talent, and contribute to strengthening India's digital ecosystem," Prof Jayant Jain, Dean, Corporate Relations, IIT Delhi, said in a statement.
Prof Ashwini K Agrawal, Dean (R&D), IIT Delhi, noted that the collaboration strengthens IIT Delhi's research in AI and cybersecurity and supports India's digital future.
Daisy Chittilapilly, President, Cisco India & South Asia, added, "Our partnership with IIT Delhi brings together research and technology expertise to advance frontier AI research, develop secure solutions for real-world challenges in AI and cybersecurity, while building a pipeline of next-generation talent that will shape India's digital future."
Earlier, Cisco partnered with IT services company LTM to offer a managed Secure Service Edge to help enterprises adopt zero trust security frameworks while managing access to applications, data, and AI models.
