The Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zoho Corporation to accelerate its digital transformation efforts under the government’s Jointness, Atmanirbharta & Innovation (JAI) mission.

The agreement was formalised by Lieutenant General Harsh Chhibber, Director General Information Systems (DGIS), and Rajendran Dandapani, Director of Engineering at Zoho.

The signing took place in the presence of Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi and Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu, according to an official post by the Indian Army.

The collaboration will focus on developing application-oriented research and development, building secure and sustainable digital systems, and strengthening technology-driven skill sets within the force. The initiative is aimed at transforming the Indian Army into a future-ready, digitally empowered organisation.

Zoho, in its response, said it is proud to contribute to the JAI mission. “As an indigenous technology company, we remain committed to building secure, sustainable digital capabilities,” the company stated, adding that it looks forward to working closely with the Army.

The JAI mission, introduced as a strategic doctrine to modernise India’s military, is built on three pillars: Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation. Jointness focuses on seamless coordination among the Army, Navy, Air Force, paramilitary forces, and state agencies.

Atmanirbharta emphasises self-reliance in defence manufacturing and technology, while Innovation highlights the adoption of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, robotics, and cyber capabilities.
