A couple of Indian developers, Aniket Singh from Amazon and Rishabh Tripathi from Groww, have created a toy programming language called Bhailang. Singh spoke about the idea behind Bhailang, saying it started as an internal joke between him and Tripathi a couple of years back. But they didn’t start working on the language until a couple of weeks ago.

“We always had a curiosity about what it takes to create a programming language, but we always thought that it would be tedious and complicated work. But guess what? We were wrong. It’s actually quite fun!” Singh added in the post. Written in TypeScript, Bhailang uses code that is a part of the Hindi local lingo. Every instruction in the language includes the word ‘bhai’ in it. For example, the entry point for the program was ‘hi bhai’ and ended with ‘bye bhai.’ A series of errors in the program returns the prompt ‘Arre Bhai Bhai Bhai!!!’

The post attracted comments from other amused developers. One other developer said, “Runtime Errors: Bhai tumhara code phatt gya,” while another added, “Please make the compiler say:
“Sahi hai bhai” When code compiles successfully. 🙌
“Arre bhai bhai bhai bhai…” When it fails to compile.🤦♂️
“Bhai tum ye kya karr rahe hoo” (In ashneer grover’s tone) while debugging… 🤷♂️
“Bhai ki izzat dubati .. .” if there is a runtime exception..”
