OpenAI recently released a waitlist for beta access to its OpenAI Slack app. The company said that it is experimenting with a new way to bring ChatGPT to Slack workspace.

This new development comes against the backdrop of the recent ChatGPT API release. In an exclusive interaction with AIM, the country manager-India at Slack, Rahul Sharma, said that they are excited about the opportunities generative AI solutions like ChatGPT could unlock. 

Further, he said that they are always looking for ways to responsibly innovate its platform with ethical guardrails and guidance to catch potential problems before they happen. With its waitlist for beta access release, OpenAI and Slack are looking to launch the ChatGPT integration cautiously.

Earlier today, Salesforce also announced that it is working with OpenAI to add the chatbot to its collaboration software Slack. Alongside bringing generative AI to its business software, as reported by Reuters. 

In collaboration with OpenAI, Salesforce is looking to develop a generative AI platform called EinsteinGPT, which helps businesses generate email drafts, customer-account information and computer code. In addition to this, ChatGPT would be integrated with Slack to help users summarise conversation threads and handle other queries. 

Salesforce GM Clara Shih said that the recent development comes due to the demand from businesses. She said that Salesforce’s proprietary data and AI models would help differentiate its offering. 

Interestingly, Salesforce’s investment arm recently launched a new USD 250 million generative AI fund to bolster the startup ecosystem and spark the development of responsible generative AI.

Microsoft also announced the launch of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot, the world’s first copilot in both CRM and ERP which, more or less, clashes with its rival Salesforce’s ambitions to integrate ChatGPT API. With this launch, Microsoft looks to enable AI-powered assistance for business functions alongside automating tasks such as note-taking and manual data entry.
