Google has announced the availability of Google Cloud Scheduler in 23 GCP regions. The enterprise-grade scheduling service can now be used from a single project removing the prior limit of a single region per project.
Google Cloud Scheduler has solved the problem of single-server cron scheduling being a single point of failure. Users can create scheduler jobs across different cloud regions, providing cross-regional availability and fail-ver scenarios. Users are no longer required to create an App Engine application to use Cloud Scheduler.
Google recommends disabling the AppEngine application within the project as jobs will continue to function without an AppEngine application.
Jobs can be created across different regions. Users just have to specify the location where they want the job to run. Users can use the gcloud command line or the Cloud Console to create jobs.
