During its first annual customer-centric event—-Microsoft Secure, the company unveiled Security Copilot yesterday. Its a security product that empowers defenders to safeguard against cyber threats at an unprecedented speed and scale using AI, the firm claims.
Copilot employs OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology to augment the security experience, offering valuable, practical insights to security professionals to identify and protect against cyberattacks.
By providing summaries and comprehensible analysis of threat intelligence, Security Copilot will help defenders sift through the clutter of web traffic and detect malicious activity with greater ease.
According to a press release, Microsoft Security team is currently monitoring over 50 ransomware gangs and more than 250 distinct cybercriminal organisations associated with nation-states. The team also receives 65 trillion threat signals each day.
Microsoft also maintained that its technology helps prevent more than 25 billion password theft attempts per second. Moreover, Microsoft has over 8,000 security professionals who analyse a vast number of security signals. On average, Microsoft’s Security Operations Center analysts utilise over 100 distinct data sources.
The AI-powered Security Copilot from Microsoft will enhance the work of security professionals by providing them with an easy-to-use assistant that integrates the company’s extensive threat intelligence capabilities with the leading expertise in the industry.
In addition, Security Copilot will continuously learn and strengthen itself to guarantee that security teams have up-to-date knowledge of attackers, their tactics, techniques, and procedures.
The Security Copilot will offer continuous access to the latest advanced OpenAI models to support demanding security tasks and applications. It leverages the customer organisation’s security data as well as Microsoft’s extensive threat analysis scope to provide enhanced visibility into threats.
Microsoft Security Copilot is currently only available for private preview.
Acquiring security software provider companies such as RiskIQ and Miburo has enabled Microsoft to gain a wide range of signals and in-depth intelligence on threat actors. Additionally, Security Copilot natively integrates with a growing list of Microsoft Security products, such as Sentinel and Defender, to assist customers.
Earlier this month Microsoft had also announced the launch of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot, touted to be the world’s first copilot in both customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP).
The tech giant also unveiled ‘Copilot X’, an upgraded version of Copilot, its AI code assistant with added GPT-4 capabilities to GitHub.. In addition to this, the website is also getting a few upgrades, including changes to the pull request system
