Imagine transcending through different layers of an image starting with an iris to reveal a woman in a vast forest that pans out to a magnificent scenery to finally end as a wall painting! This is the level of aesthetic intricacy Midjourney has brought with its latest version. AI image generator Midjourney recently rolled out its latest version offering a list of advanced features.

The model, Midjourney v5.2, creates more detailed, clearer, sharper images with better colour, contrast and compositions. It also has a better understanding of the prompts when compared to earlier models. 

Here are some crazy new features you can experiment with Midjourney v5.2.

Zoom Out

One of the highlights of the latest version is the Zoom Out feature. It allows users to expand on an image, broaden to a wider scale, at the same time ensuring all the details of the original image such as aspect ratio, and resolution are retained. You can also zoom in to find intricate details of an image. 

There is also an endless zooming option where you can zoom out of your output, then re-use that image to reapply the Zoom Out feature as many times as you please. 

Make Square 

The ‘Make Square’ tool is a feature designed to transform images with aspect ratio other than that of a perfect square. The tool helps you expand vertically or horizontally to get the square shape and it is guided by arrows to help with the direction of resizing. 

Shorten Command

Midjourney v5.2 comes with an improved text understanding and offers a feature where you can shorten your command. By using the “Shorten” command, the model will analyse the elements of your verbose prompt and offer suggestions for condensing it to help with the desired output. 

Variation Mode

A new feature called Variation Mode allows users to fine-tune visual nuances to their outputs. By using the prompt command, users can toggle between ‘High Variation Mode’ and ‘Low Variation Mode’, where choosing the former will lead to greater divergence from the original output, encouraging more captivating and exploratory results, and the latter will result in greater visual consistency. 

Stylize

Midjourney has the remarkable ability to generate images that possess a captivating artistic touch and a visually lush aesthetic. To amplify this effect, users can use the ‘Stylize” function. In previous versions, users could add “-stylize X” to the end of their prompts where X could range from 0 to 1000, and in this latest version, the capabilities have been raised to new heights in terms of realism and flair. 

Pan/Improved Remix

The latest feature ‘Pan’, released yesterday, allows a user to extend an image in a particular direction. The ‘Remix mode’ will allow a user to change prompts each time the ‘Pan’ feature is used. With the remix mode, you can blend multiple genres, themes and aesthetics, enabling artists to create unique pieces. You can click the remix mode to change your prompts, each time you pan.  Clubbed with the stylized command, realism and abstractness of the image can be altered in different ways.
